Tackling the UK’s inefficient and draughty houses is one of the biggest challenges on the road to net zero, requiring a national strategy, local leadership, and engagement from all of us. The pandemic has reminded us of the importance of home and having a safe, comfortable space – how can we build back better, with warmer and more efficient homes that have lower bills, are better for our health and lead to sustainable jobs in the supply chain?
The Conservative Manifesto pledged £9.2 billion investment in energy efficiency. Measures such as the Green Homes Grant have been introduced and we are due a Heat and Buildings Strategy. This discussion explored how we move from the stop start policies of the past to build momentum and scale in with a thriving, consistent market for installers and the low carbon supply chain.
