Local Delivery Of Heat ImageWednesday 6 July – Online
13.00 – 14.30

This event saw the launch of Regen’s report, The Local Delivery of Clean Heat.

We were joined by nearly 300 people to discuss our conclusions and debate the next steps in heat decarbonisation with policy makers including David Capper, Director of Clean Heat at BEIS, and other experts.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for decarbonising heat. The solutions are necessarily local and complex, varying by each building and household. This means that local government with their unique reach into communities will be critical in delivering and supporting this heat transition.

Regen’s report (funded by the European Climate Foundation) explores the different roles, powers and responsibilities local and national government should take across three areas:

  • Heat zoning and planning: What is the role of local and national governments in determining which areas take which path for the decarbonisation of heat?
  • Citizen and community engagement: How can different consumers be engaged in the need to change heating and who has those conversations?
  • Supply chain and skills development: What is needed and from whom to develop the market for retrofit and low carbon heat.
