Businesses are responsible for over half of all new vehicle registrations and could be a crucial player in the adoption of electric vehicles in the UK and internationally. However, there are still major barriers to electric vehicle uptake in fleets that need to be overcome.
Major companies, including BT Group, IKEA and Heathrow airport, have joined EV100, an initiative from The Climate Group, to help accelerate fleet electrification and tackle some of the underlying challenges facing the sector. The fourth meeting of this forum brought together fleet services, DNOs, investors and others to discuss these challenges and potential solutions. We looked at:
- The current progress of fleet electrification
- The challenges around charging for fleet depots
- The importance of data in planning fleet deployment
- How we can use the role of electric fleets to incentivise public electric vehicle uptake and potential impacts on the second hand market
The event enabled informed and in-depth debate for key players, providing new solutions and innovative business models.
