Wales & West Utilities and Regen are working together to understand the future of gas and heat in the South West and Wales regions.
The South West phase of this work was completed in May and the modelling and analysis for Wales commenced in June, with Regen and Wales & West Utilities hosting a kickoff workshop in Cardiff. The project briefing document and slides from this event are available here.
Regen and Wales & West Utilities hosted a follow up workshop in Llandudno, where we summarised the approach being taken towards future energy scenarios for heat and gas in Wales, discussed some of the preliminary results and explored some of the major developments and growth areas facing the sector, including:
- Evolving domestic heating supply
- Commercial and industrial heat and gas usage
- The development of distributed gas-fired power generation
- Green gas injection and usage
- Hydrogen production and usage
Regen used the feedback gained at the workshop to further develop the regional energy scenarios that will support Wales & West Utilities’ forecasting and future business planning.
This event was part of a series of engagement workshops that Regen were running in partnership with Wales & West Utilities.
