Regen is working with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) on the 2021 edition of the Distribution Future Energy Scenarios (DFES) analysis. The DFES analysis is a key stage in SSEN’s wider network forecasting and investment planning processes for the Southern Central England and North of Scotland licence areas.
The aim of the project is to develop a set of four future scenario outcomes for all of the major distributed generation, electricity storage and disruptive low carbon demand technologies that will be connecting to the electricity distribution network out to 2050.
To support this year’s work, we ran a webinar on 13 October to discuss the potential growth and location of future energy technologies and developments in the Southern Central England Licence Area, which will influence SSEN’s planning to prepare their network for the future. We also gauged views on the uptake of new or disruptive technologies such as hydrogen electrolysis, battery storage, electric vehicles and heat pumps.
