The government announced their intention to close the generation element of the Feed-in Tariff back in 2015 and have recently put out a consultation on the details of that closure. Unexpectedly, this consultation also announced the closure of the export tariff.
The removal of the export tariff will be a further blow to the sector and exacerbate the downward trend the sector has been experiencing since the first major cuts were announced.
Regen, along with other major voices in the industry, has called on government to keep the export tariff open. We propose that this can be done in a smarter, more flexible way to create a well-designed, dynamic tariff that tracks the wholesale price.
You can find our response above (or below) and we would encourage everyone to write to their MP asking for their support in parliament for small-scale renewables and to keep the export tariff open.
This consultation is closely linked to the call for evidence on the future for small-scale low-carbon generation and you can find our response here.
