The UK will not achieve its net zero ambition without the active engagement of the people and organisations living and working in each of the UK’s nations, cities and regions.

A locally led energy transition can bring the skilled jobs, investment and resilience needed for a green recovery and put the country on course to achieving a zero carbon society. Local authorities, cities and regions therefore have a key role in to play in decarbonisation and in leading the delivery of net zero initiatives.

This page has been set up as a hub for Regen information and guidance for local government and local actors working on net zero.

Membership and Regen working locally

Regen has been working over many years to support climate action within local areas, from resource and opportunity assessments, innovation projects and community energy support. The map below shows our existing members and recent areas and projects we have been working on.

Membership

The Local Authorities, Cities and Regions membership has been developed to help support local and regional bodies respond to the climate emergency and the transformation of our energy system, offering support on issues such as procuring local renewable electricity, planning for electric vehicles, working with local energy networks, energy efficiency and supply chain.
