Business Development / General Manager

Hours: Offered full time (37.5 hours a week). Part-time pro rata would be considered
Annual salary: £28-32k (depending on experience, with opportunity to progress).
Location: Office based in Bristol BS2 8QH.
Reporting to: Community Power Solutions Ltd Managing Director.
Terms: 2 year with extension subject to funding.

Role Summary
Community Power Solutions Ltd is recruiting for a Business Development / General Manager role, reporting to the Managing Director.

You will have a crucial role in taking company growth to >£20m turnover.

You will reach out to UK community groups and Local Authorities, create and qualify business leads, manage the lead pipeline, and convert to sales.

You will identify and write successful bids for funding, on behalf of communities

Your experience of working in MarCom / BD sector is highly desirable. You are expected to demonstrate an energetic, proactive and professional approach in creating media content and collateral related to CPS’s current and future projects.

You would assist the MD in general management, working alongside the current engineering & technical team. This is an exciting time to join us as we grow the team to address Net Zero by delivering community-led wind power projects to UK communities.

About Community Power Solutions Ltd
We are a Bristol-based consultancy developing onshore wind projects on behalf of communities nationwide. The founders developed and built the largest wind turbine in England in 2023.

Specific responsibilities
Develop and implement a business development strategy.

Support and enable the communication of our capability nationwide, developing new market opportunities and managing the sales pipeline.

Develop and implement a communications strategy incorporating social media channels and website content.

Identify potential funding opportunities to catalyse community energy activities, prepare bids and proposal applications to secure funding, on behalf of community groups and the Company..

Attend essential relevant external events to promote and market the company.

Essential Experience

  • Experience of business development and of marketing and communications in local community and Local Authority space, in England & Wales.
  • Managing marcom activities on web and social media platforms.
  • Experience of successful grant and other applications in SME and community space.
  • Rapid sustainable growth of small enterprise.
  • Convincing presentation and report writing.

Desirable Experience

  • Organised at managing workload with current apps (Monday, GSuite) .
  • Understanding of wind energy and Grid associated Policy in UK.
  • Effective outsourcing of content for web, media, newsletters and blogs.

Essential skills and abilities

  • Ability to work in a small team and able to identify where their skills complement others.
  • Ability to present complex information in an accessible and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage competing priorities.

Desirable skills and abilities

  • Ability to track and monitor communications activity.
  • A willingness to occasionally work outside of standard office hours, e.g. evenings or weekends.
