Community energy fosters collaboration between local authorities and communities – often via dedicated community energy organisations. This relationship creates a platform for shared learning and insights to drive forward local net zero ambitions. Several local authority Net Zero Living projects are dedicated to focusing in on the benefits of, and barriers to, local authority and community energy collaboration, and are exploring and implementing strategies to accelerate community energy.

The Community Energy Policy Group is chaired by Regen. The purpose of this group is to provide a space for evidence to support collaboration between local authorities and community energy organisations and to unlock new opportunities for both.

The group meets quarterly, with Regen acting as the facilitator and delivering the policy outputs and technical assistance flowing from the key challenges and opportunities identified within our sessions.

If you are interested in finding out more about this group, get in touch with the group lead, Fraser Stewart.
