For the past three years, Regen has been one of the partners on OpenLV, an innovation project giving communities and businesses access to local electricity substation data. As part of the trial, 80 substations across Western Power Distribution’s (WPD’s) licence areas were monitored, and data from ten of them was made available to eight community energy groups and housing associations. Regen worked with the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) to support these communities and help them to use the data as part of their local energy projects.
The OpenLV guidebook for communities has case studies from trial participants and more information designed to help other community energy organisations make use of local energy data.
