Key areas we're working across

Together with our members, we seek to break down the major barriers impacting decarbonisation efforts across the whole energy system.

Learn more
  • Grid

To achieve clean power by 2030, the UK must connect an additional 120 GW of renewable generation and storage capacity to the grid. Ensuring projects can connect quickly and easily, alongside a proactive approach to grid capacity planning, is critical.

  • Markets

Energy markets require a progressive reform programme to support a renewables-based power system – including evolving Contracts for Difference to underpin investment in renewable energy and reduce our exposure to international gas prices.

  • Planning

To meet the target of 95% clean power by 2030, new energy infrastructure, including renewable generation, storage and networks, needs to be developed at scale and speed. Currently, local planning resources are stretched, planning policy is hindering renewable deployment and community benefits are not being realised.

  • People

Bringing people along on the transition to a clean power system is crucial to meet our net zero targets. This means engaging with individuals and communities to understand how to maximise the value of a clean energy system, particularly for those most at-risk of being left behind.

Special interest groups

While Regen membership is focused on transforming the whole energy system, we offer additional networks tailored to particular areas of the industry.

  • Electricity Storage Network

Managed by Regen, the ESN is the industry group and voice for grid-scale electricity storage in Great Britain, bringing together more than 100 organisations and 500 industry professionals .

  • ReWIRE

Regen’s Women in Renewable Energy network partners with the clean energy sector to champion gender diversity and empower women to take a leading role in the energy transition.

  • Local authorities

Through our expertise, advocacy, peer networks and consultancy support, we help translate the needs of local people and places into strategies to support  local authorities on the journey to net zero.

  • Communities

Our expert insight and networks give community energy organisations across the UK the opportunity to understand and influence the policy landscape at this pivotal moment for the sector.
